Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the Production Floor Supervisor will provide direction to the shop floor personnel of UAM Curtain Wall Systems Production Facility. You will monitor the quality of work, ensure employees receive the proper training, and address maintenance issues. Position will oversee and assist with the daily Plant Operations including process and procedure improvement activities.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and direction to the production floor personnel.
  • Accomplish manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, disciplining employees; and initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain training programs in conjunction with the Lean Manufacturing and Safety Coordinator to ensure that all personnel have the necessary skills to perform their duties safely and productively.
  • Coordinate daily production huddles to communicate shop floor expectation for the day / week and delegate assignments to production personnel.
  • Communicate clear expectations to production personnel, keep them informed of matters pertaining to their job, and develop personnel growth opportunities.
  • Monitor employee work performance relative to expectations and maintain material / workflow through the facility with production minimum output by day and week in mind.
  • Ensure material handlers supply the workstations with material quickly and efficiently.
  • Monitor and enforce safety policies defined by the Lean Manager and Safety Director.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times by educating and directing personnel on 5/6s.
  • Work with facilities manager to ensure equipment and tools are in good working order and available for use when required.
  • Work with Job Captains to ensure all stations are producing product to the company’s quality standards and production levels.
  • Continuously evaluate and modify the plant layout and material workflow for increased throughput and productivity.
  • Monitor and enforce work start, break, and stop times of the production floor personnel.
  • Monitor and enforce cell phone prohibition of the production floor personnel.
  • Monitor tidiness of the workstations and machines as well as the shipping and receiving yard.
  • Coordinate cleanups where necessary.
  • Attend and participate in regular production meetings.
  • Work in a fast paced environment with fast changing priorities.
  • Address conflicts of interest and provide solutions.
• Issue Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as well as tools as necessary.
  • Lead the production floor personnel and maintain a positive work atmosphere.
  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Position report to and works closely with the Plan Manager.
  • Uphold all ISO and OSHA standards applicable to the responsibilities above.


  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associate’s Degree or Trade/Technical School Certification preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing plant is preferred.
  • Strong supervisory and management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of plant and manufacturing operations required.
  • Experience with CNC 
machines, punching, bending and sawing highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of lean principals, raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and 
other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Ability to read blueprints and parts lists and to apply the metric system.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment with little 
  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite 2010 and computer skills.
  • Ability to produce quality products consistently.
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to lift heavy items.

Job Description: Create and submit bids for the glazing scopes of work in regards to commercial construction projects by interpreting both blueprints and specifications, performing material take-offs, and collecting material quotes from suppliers. Reports to chief estimator.


  • Obtain bid documents.
    • Research, download, and print.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Perform material take-offs.
  • Create material summaries to estimate field labor.
    • Labor estimates are the responsibility of the Chief Estimator and the President.
    • Attend pre-bid meetings.
  • Assist the estimating team with scope reviews and conference calls.
  • Meet fast paced deadlines.
  • Communicate with suppliers, contractors, and architects.
  • Assist with handing off awarded projects to the project management team.

UAM seeking candidates for full-time commercial construction AutoCAD drafting and Design position.

  • 3D / 2D Modeling and Detailing Software experience a plus. Experience using AutoCAD, a must!
  • Experience in construction management projects. (required)
    Experience with Curtain Wall Systems is a BIG nice to have.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and other CAD software.
  • Excellent communications skills: interpersonal, listening, oral, and written.
  • Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office. Able to generate layout drawings from sketches and specifications.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, efficiently schedule and manage time.

Position requires individuals to collaborate with project team members in order to develop high-quality drawings with accuracy, while maintaining project schedules.  Experience with 3D modeling software is desired, but not required for the position.  Revit and Rhino a big plus!

Minimum Education Required – Associate’s Degree or Completion of a Technical Trade school in AutoCAD, drafting or related field, plus at least 5 years of related work experience: or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Degree in Architecture a Plus.

Measuring of aluminum extrusions to be cut for fabrication.  Assembly of cut aluminum and hardware into doors and frames.  Check material against orders and visually inspect incoming materials.  Maintain a clean and organized work area.  Actively engage in safety of self of self and others at the facility, including holding customers and contractors responsible for best in class safety.  Produce a quality product with attention to detail.
